Beneficial Accessory Exercises for Each Muscle Group

Growing and maintaining your muscles can be a lot of work, but it is very rewarding to see when all of that work amounts to something, and that the work was worth the struggles and sacrifices in the long run. Which then leads me to talk about some of the beneficial exercises for each muscle group… keep reading to find out more!

What are Muscles & Muscle Groups?

By definition, a muscle is a group of muscle tissues which contract together to produce a force. Which would then make sense that a muscle group would be a group of muscles that consists of several muscles that perform the same function.

When working out or exercising, it is important to know which muscles and muscle groups that you’re actually using, especially if you’re working out daily. When you work out daily, it’s a good habit to get into to alternate the muscle groups you exercise, because it’s very important to make sure that you’re not OVER exercising one certain muscle, because yes... exercising too much is a real thing.

Over exercising is dangerous and bad, since it can lead to health risks and problems in the long run, especially within your heart and joints. By working out too much, or working out the same muscle groups too often, it can make your body do the opposite of what you wanted, because the real gains come from when you’re resting and giving your body time to recover.

If your body doesn’t have enough fuel, it won’t be able to perform at its best, and that goes for a lot of things in life. For example, if your phone battery is at 10%, then your entire phone start slowing down, and everything within it, like your apps won’t work as well and will start to glitch.

It’s the same thing with our bodies, because if your body is physically exhausted, you won’t work or perform at your best. So let your body and muscles rest!! And resting doesn’t always mean do absolutely nothing, I would say that the best rest days, are active rest days. So that means going on a walk or doing dynamic stretches that day.

Anyways... below I’m going to be naming the muscle groups, along with the groups that are typically done together in the gym, plus I'm going to add some of the accessory exercises that target each one!

  • Chest

  • Back

  • Arm and Shoulder

  • Abdominal Muscles

  • Legs and Glutes

Muscle Groups that are done together + accessory exercises:

  • Chest + Shoulders + Triceps

  • Back + Biceps

  • Legs: Hamstrings + Glutes

  • Legs: Quads + Calves

I know that I pretty much just bombarded you with a whole bunch of words, and you may be feeling overwhelmed, but that’s okay! You can’t learn everything in a day, it takes weeks, months, and even years to learn everything, and even then, there’s still more to learn! Which is the amazing part about getting more in tuned with your personal fitness journey.

As a way to make things easier for you, I will make it so you’re able to click each accessory exercise’s name, which will then take you directly to a video example to watch in order to have the correct form! You're welcome in advance!
